The Umhlaba Approach

Umhlaba Development Services ("Umhlaba") is a private company providing development consultancy services. Based in Gauteng and Kwa- Zulu Natal we provide our services in the Southern African region. Consisting of a team of skilled development professionals, Umhlaba has extensive experience of the institutional capacities required for implementation of large-scale programmes. It also understands that while thorough and good process is critical to successful development, this should not be at the expense of the provision of actual objectives and development products. Our team consists of specialists and professionals, who are able to bring both expertise and commitment to the task of building better development delivery.

Umhlaba Development Services contracts a range of specialist development professionals and staff for its projects and programmes. They are managed by our five directors who have more than ±40 years of collective experience working in the development sector and have the expertise to provide specialised interventions and support in any or all of our service areas. In addition, the specialist teams constituted for this project provide clients with a range of competencies and expertise to provide a holistic perspective on performance management in civil society. Umhlaba also espouses a strong principle of utilising and developing black consultants in its work teams.
